Beginner Hotshop 1
Instructor: Studio C staff

Time: Wednesday, 6-9pm
Dates: Nov. 14, 21, 28, Dec. 5, 12, 19

In this beginner class you will spend six Wednesday evenings learning how to work with glass in the hot shop. This class will cover topics such as the use of hand tools, shaping, punty transfers, how to work safely with molten glass and feel comfortable in the glass shop environment.

Basic Paperweight Making
Instructor: Studio C staff
Cost: $250
Time: Saturday & Sunday, 9-1pm
Dates: Oct. 20-21 or Dec. 1-2

This class introduces you to the basics of gathering molten glass from the furnace and manipulating it into your own unique paperweight form. Topics covered will include safety, shop set up, tool and equipment use and hand skills.

Paperweight Fridays
Instructor: Studio C Staff
Cost: $100
Time: Friday, 6-9
Date: Oct. 19, Nov. 16, Dec. 7, or Dec. 14

This one day class guides the beginner through the step by step process of making a paperweight. Each student will be introduced to the basics of hot glass handling and will finish out the class by making at least one finished momento of the experience.

Basic Glassblowing
Instructor: Studio C staff
Cost: $250
Time: Saturday & Sunday, 9-1pm
Date: Dec. 8-9

This class introduces the beginner to the formation of a bubble on a blowpipe with the goal of making a cup. Topics covered will include safety, shop set up, tool and equipment use and hand skills.

Introduction to Sand Casting
Instructor: Studio C staff
Cost: $250
Time: Saturday & Sunday, 9-1pm
Dates: Oct.,13-14, Nov.,17-18 or Dec.,15-16

This class introduces the student to the primal craft of glass sand casting. This simple and direct method of pouring molten glass into sand yields wonderful results that are only limited by ones imagination. Topics covered will include shop safety, shop set up, tools and equipment use, sand preparation, template design, introduction of foreign materials into the mold and hot manipulation of castings. This class is ideal for those with sculpting and design experience.
